A music agency
for premium hospitality.

8 min read

If you are an operator at a premium UAE venue looking for a music agency to handle DJ residencies, live musicians, daypart programming, and the entire operational layer that sits between the venue and the talent — this page exists to tell you what S Groove is and whether we fit your room. We work exclusively in premium hospitality. We are a small studio in Dubai with a curated artist roster and a defined operating model.

01 / Why most venues end up with the wrong kind of agency

Music agency is a confused category in the Gulf hospitality market. The label covers everything from a single DJ with a personal contact book to a corporate background-music provider with no curatorial layer to event-booking middlemen who don't actually programme music. Operators looking for the right partner cannot easily tell which is which from a website or a sales call. The result is that most venues end up partnered with the wrong kind of agency for their needs.

The right kind of agency for premium hospitality has specific properties. It runs an audition discipline — every artist on its roster has been heard in-room at a real venue, with a real guest demographic. It owns an operational layer — day-of confirmations, backup roster, contract management, performance review. It works at the programme level — designing the music arc across a service, not booking artists as a transactional flow. And it operates at premium scale only — the work doesn't translate to mid-tier or fast-casual, and the right agencies don't try to.

S Groove was built to operate against all four of those criteria. Below is what that looks like in practice.

02 / What doesn't work
01

Booking direct from a DJ's Instagram

No operational layer, no backup, no curatorial vetting. Works until the first no-show, fails immediately at scale, never builds a programmed identity.

02

Corporate background-music vendors

Sell access to a generic library. No live talent. No daypart programming. No brand alignment. Designed for retail at scale, not for premium dining.

03

Event-booking middlemen who also 'do residencies'

Event bookings are a different operational discipline from hospitality residencies. Agencies that do both well are rare; agencies that claim to do both and do neither at premium calibre are common.

04

International agencies with a regional office

The Gulf hospitality scene has its own cultural rhythm — Ramadan, late dining hours, brunch culture, Saudi expansion. International agencies that haven't operated in this rhythm don't programme for it correctly.

03 / What we actually do

S Groove operates as the music programming layer for premium hospitality venues across the UAE and the wider Gulf. We work with hotels, restaurants, beach clubs, lounges, and concept dining at the four-star-and-up level. We are not a transactional booking service — we are an ongoing partnership.

We deliver five things: programming (the monthly music direction across the venue's service hours), curation (audition-vetted talent matched to the venue and the daypart), operations (day-of confirmations, sound checks, automatic backup activation), reporting (monthly performance review against actual venue data), and billing (single consolidated invoice covering every artist and every set). These five are designed to work together — the programming informs the curation, the curation drives the operations, the operations produce the reporting, the reporting refines the programming.

Most of our partner venues engage us at the residency level first — three to six months — and expand to multi-zone or multi-property over time. We have venues that have run with us continuously for years and venues that joined last quarter. The work scales with what the partnership needs.

  • 40+ audition-vetted artists across DJ, saxophone, vocals, percussion, piano
  • Day-of confirmations and automatic backup roster activation
  • Monthly performance review against venue-level data
  • Single consolidated invoice — finance team processes one vendor, not eight
  • Permits, performance rights, and licensing administered on our side
  • Group dashboard for operators running across multiple properties
  • Founded in Dubai, operated by working music directors with hospitality residency experience
From the field · Dubai · Multi-venue partner

A multi-property operator in Dubai had been working with five separate music vendors across their portfolio — different DJs, different agencies, different invoicing arrangements. After consolidating under S Groove, the group's F&B Director described the shift as 'going from managing music as eight problems to managing it as one relationship'. The brand consistency across properties tightened within the first quarter.

04 / Common questions

What size of venue do you work with?

Premium hospitality at the four-star-and-up level. Concept fine dining, premium casual, beach clubs, hotel F&B, lounges, members-only formats. We don't work with retail malls, gyms, fast-casual chains, or the budget-hotel segment.

How do we know if we're the right fit?

First call is 10 minutes. We listen, you describe the venue, we tell you honestly whether we're the right system. If we're not the right fit, we'll say so on the call. We don't take partnerships we can't deliver on.

How much does engagement cost?

Scoped against the venue's specific brief — number of zones, residency complexity, live music format, group portfolio. We'll quote concretely on the first call. We are not the cheapest option in the market and we don't try to be.

Do you work in Saudi Arabia and the wider Gulf?

Yes — increasingly active in Riyadh, Jeddah, Doha, and the Maldives resort segment. Cloud-deployed where on-site presence is not required; on-site presence in Dubai for our home market.

Who runs S Groove?

Ray Ro and Leonica — two founding DJs with decade-plus residency experience across Dubai's premium hospitality scene. We are a small team of operators, not a big agency. That is intentional.
